I'm the same girl he fell in love with
last year but sadly he has outgrown me. He realized that I'm unstable and
insecure, maybe he realized that before we were together and accepted that. In
my head it was never over but every time I turn to my side he isn't there. The
only thing next to me is a tiny bear which he gave me the 14th of August, 2014.
This was our first official day as a couple. I don't cry that often, but when I
start to I feel that it's a never ending void I can't fill. This knot inside is
slowly eating through me, I'm so nervous I can't even feel my stomach anymore.
I moved to the United States about seven months ago and decided to do long
distance but in my mind I didn't think it would work. I don't know why I got so
afraid. I should have taken the chance, now all I think about is what if? And
that is possibly the worst feeling anyone should experience. He has the biggest
heart and he is live definition of "a needle in a hay stack". I'm in
that point where I actually hope he finds a girl that puts his broken heart
back together and loves him like I did. I truly hope him happiness and to live
a hell of a great life with me or without me. One thing is certain, if we are
meant to be we will see each other again and I'm sure we will. Don’t
be afraid to love and don’t take for granted the love you have, because you
never know when it might end.

For: Taylor Swift (Has anyone ever wrote you a song?)
I wrote
this because I realized that the guy who broke Taylor Swift's heart has too
many songs. I wrote this because I wanted to point out how valuable you are,
Taylor, for all of us, all the people who admire you.
This is
a very simple rhyme but completely honest! So I encourage any Swiftie to get
inspired and write a song or a poem for her!
My
Saturday night was unusual,
Out of
the ordinary, even delusional
This
came to me, like a wave and breeze,
I just
stud there to freeze
This
was the first night i saw you
You
passed by me like a bright shining queen,
A
breathtaking scene,
The
happiest I've ever been.
Taylor
you light up the sky
When
we're with you I swear we can fly!
We sing
with you and dance with you
In
every way, we're here to say
Chorus:
Has
anyone wrote you a song?
Its
seems like it’s been too long
Since
someone smiled at truly who you are
Turned
her pain into music and talent
And
danced all night in the rain
I fell
in your voice
This
song came with no sign or choice
I never
rhyme but this came by surprise
Trust
me and look in my eyes
***
I look
for you up in the stars
My
angel told me you're not far so
I call
out to you and ask you to listen
This
one's for you, and not for the boy who broke your heart (he has too many
songs)
I want
you to know, I speak from the heart,
Don't
let it show but we've been next to you since the start
The
dream that your living, you share it with all
Your
fairytale singing, just the beginning and if you ever feel down,
Don’t
dare to frown, we'll pick you up if you fall...
Chorus:
Has
anyone wrote you a song?
Its
seems like it’s been too long
Since
someone smiled at truly who you are
Turned
her pain into music and talent
And
danced all night in the rain
I fell
in your voice
This
song came with no sign or choice
I never
rhyme but this came by surprise
Trust me and look
in my eyes
***
Has
anyone wrote you a song before?
Its
seems like it's been too long ago
You
write us your fears and we're here for your tears, just turn around
Taylor,
this one’s for you, so feel your heart beating,
The
rush you are feeling is our love and our singing
Now you
can say you have a song

"Money Makes the World Go Round"
We have been told that through the abundance of money and power a person
can achieve true happiness, this might be a disappointment because it isn’t
true. Why does it seem that each day that goes by the world is driven more and
more by greed and ambition? In life there are so many things that can’t be
labelled with price. “Even if a man has everything – money, power, the key to
eternal life – he is still nothing without a family to love him and for him to
love”, (Latrivia S. Nelson).
Every person has a different pursuit of happiness and success, it is
relative within each human being. Success can be measured in many different
scales. One of my personal aspirations is
to become a Journalist and an Economics major. As the years pass, my financial
objective is to be stable and be able to produce sufficient income to sustain a
family. Nevertheless, being successful comes from your own knowledge,
education and love. This is what directs us to open our minds and eyes towards
a better future and sharing half of your heart with another person. Being passionate
about what you enjoy doing will always lead to open doors in the financial
world and as a human being. Money changes people and what they
stand for. Having an excessive amount of money or wanting to have, can
lead to a never ending creation of addiction and greed. Don’t let your obsessions ruin the
opportunity to live through this short life we have.
My thoughts on this topic is recognizing the
importance between what you want and what you need and finding this balance is
extremely important. "Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the
joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort”, (Franklin D. Roosevelt). It is true that money is
essential for our bare necessities and our day to day living but in the end do
people remember you for what you had or who you are? Money doesn’t bring you
great memories or fills your soul with warm-hearted feelings. We come to see
that the wonderful things that convey happiness come for free and are conceived
within ourselves.

Joe Biden: Combatting Sexual Assault
I held my Orange pride
really high today after listening to one of the most important men in the
country give a speech. Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States, came
to SU to talk a about Violence and Sexual Assaults on College Campuses. Biden
is incredibly passionate about this topic not because someone in his family has
been a victim but for the fact that his father was such an honorable man. He
explained how his father taught him to respect women and never to raise a hand
towards them. The tone of voice he used varied in perfect synchrony and all of
the students standing right in front of him were completely engaged with every
word he spoke. 1 in 5 women is likely to be a victim of sexual assault
before they finish college. This is something our community can change if we
consciously make a cultural change in the decisions we make. "Look at
these women as your mother, as your sister, your teammate, step in and expose
them, save them!"
Joe Biden graduated from
Syracuse University in the year 1968 and he couldn't have been happier coming
back "home". He was received with an auditorium full of students, in
which some had been victims of sexual assault, many professors and our big
pride, the marching band. Seeing him
stand up for this problem was encouraging, because I felt the pain these women
and men have suffered and have been through. It’s a topic people are afraid to
speak about because one can be judged or mistreated. Biden’s Campaign “It’s On
Us” is creating awareness among college students and a safe place where victims
can be heard and their voice can be heard. Never blame yourself because it is
NEVER your fault. Be courageous, be bold, and be brave because you have an
amazing community supporting you. Biden’s speech was flawless and incredibly
motivating. I hope his message spreads throughout the United States to
successfully decrease these terrible percentages of violence against women and
men.

Essence of Beauty
Beauty is becoming the fear of so many
young women. Why is society and social media imposing standards of beauty that
are beyond what is really considered beautiful? We don't need to feed a shadow
that haunts us every time we see ourselves in the mirror. The name I gave this
blog recently is "Kalon". The definition of this word is simple,
"beauty that is more than skin-deep, the ideal of physical and moral
beauty". I chose this name for many reasons. It seems that each day that
passes inside beauty is forgotten. We seem to eat less, dress tighter and spend
so much time reflecting an image that doesn't represent us. But think of this,
when was the last time you asked yourself, am I beautiful? Look in the mirror
and answer the first thing that comes to your mind. I've seen so many women
that answer "No" and this crushes me. Being beautiful is putting a
smile on your face every day even if something is troubling you. Being
beautiful is waking up each morning and looking messy after a good night sleep.
Being beautiful is believing you are absolutely flawless inside and out. I can’t
imagine a homogeneous world. Our differences, our culture, our background is
what defines us and makes us unique. “Kalon” is beauty beyond what we know,
beauty beyond words. This is what you are, beautiful.
"America" by Imagine Dragons
The guitar starts to play a
quiet melody that can be compared to skipping stones on a stagnant river. Then a soft beat climbs in the melody similar
to a heartbeat making the pace a little faster. After a few notes a man’s voice
starts to sing in a low key, soft and relaxing, “Is this just an illusion”? His
name is Dan Reynolds, the lead vocalist in this song. Reynolds is a famous
singer, composer and forms part of the band Imagine Dragons. The song I chose
as a national anthem is called “America”, different to what I normally listen
to but relatable to how I view this country.
It has a flowing beat, similar
to hearing the ocean recede slowly. In the background one can hear a keyboard
filling a void that only a piano can fill. “Believe in you”, our country has
suffered through strong downfalls throughout history but always managing to
find a way to rise again and again; “Rise to the top of the world, America”. By
this point the beat starts to get stronger and faster adding a perfect
rhythmical sense to the lyrics. The band proceeds to speak and give a voice to
important citizens that sometimes are overlooked within the community. “From
farmers in the fields…for all the ones that gave until they died”, for all the
people that contribute to the growth and stabilization of this country.
I think this is an ideal song
because it is simple and portrays the main aspects of how I view the United
States. It’s a place that one can call home, a place to find a dream, “and I
feel you close”. Sometimes we find ourselves falling but with time we come back
rising to the top, “America, don’t you cry, lift me up”. The last instrument
that takes place in this song gracefully makes an appearance in the chorus. The
xylophone enters in the harmony as if a person would melodically fall down the
stairs. Lastly, the song ends repeating
the chorus and mixing the drums, guitar, xylophone and Reynolds voice.
(The objective of this assignment was to pick a new National Anthem and describe the song through words so one can listen to the music without hearing the song).

Four Thousand Miles
The distance is killing
me because if I had you close I wouldn't let you go ever again. Being away from
you is feeding on my heart. I miss you even if you think otherwise, all the
things about you. You are my everything but I keep this to myself so you don't
suffer in silence. I know the distance is anxiously growing on you too. I want
you to know that close or far you are still in my heart and I can't let you go.
Don't forget to remind me of all the times you loved me because this void is
infinite. I'm beginning to forget what it was like to be in your arms, I look
for your warmth among others but it's never you. I close my eyes hoping to see
your reflection but it’s never you. Maybe one day I'll come back into your
heart and be as we always were.
Four thousand fucking miles away and I still can't seem to get over your smile, your
laugh, the way you look at things and make them seem better. I really can't
stop thinking about you. Don't ever forget what we had because it was that type of love
you live and have once in a lifetime. Don’t ever settle for less.
Why do you want to be a Journalist?
Roller
Coasters seem to be scarier than they appear. Fast, majestic, perfectly planned
and hopefully flawless. The uncertainty of not knowing what to expect unless
you dare to get on it. The initial sway is slow because of the strength needed
to move the amount of people the ride carries. Through constant effort a small
incline begins to tilt (us). Successfully moving higher, nevertheless going
steady. What are we experiencing? Excitement and fear to reach a breathtaking
climax. It drops, loses control and the fear turns into a war between
adrenaline and screaming, trying to make our voice loud enough for someone to
hear. After this point the direction this ride is headed is completely unknown;
twisting, turning, reaching so high, and dropping so quickly that ending face
first on the ground seems like a plausible option. It’s ending, slowly
going back to where it began. How many tickets do I have left? I have to go on
again!
Journalism
is scarier than it appears. Precise, tedious, mesmerizing and diverse. Slowly
swayed by the people and the arrow of communication it implies. Through
constant effort mass media and the overwhelming connection it creates
throughout the world, it spreads news among an astonishing amount of different
countries. Success! Steady incline in charts, views and publications, going
higher and higher. What am I experiencing? Excitement, fear, am i doing
everything as I'm supposed to? Where is the climax? Am I going towards the
right direction? These questions make me nervous. I'm losing my mind, I'm
screaming but no one can hear me. That's what journalism is about, finding your
voice, being loud enough to be heard and knowing that the direction you are
going may be completely wrong. It's about taking chances and being bold, there
is absolutely nothing to lose (except your job). It's about enjoying the words
you construct and assemble together. Is the ride over? I have to go on again!
Fortune Cookie Realization
"It matters not
what road we take but rather what we become on the journey". The wise
words of a fortune cookie from my Chinese delivery today. I have always
worried about what will happen in a near future, where I will go and how
everything I do might affect how people think of me. I wish I could have
realized sooner that nothing could matter less. We are so busy living in the
past or in the future that we forget all that is in front of us. Like going for
a walk, looking around yourself and actually enjoying even the simplest moment.
I have realized that
life is so short, at least for me each day that goes by is passing faster and
faster. The only answer is... Don't ever stop loving, caring, smiling, and
doing things that truly make you happy and who you are. Go outside, breath
fresh air and just smile and be grateful for everything you have. Don't ever
stop doing something that others think is strange. If that would have been my
case, I'd be going crazy, more than I already am. Notice everything around, "there
is never nothing going on". Be there for people who need a help in hand,
open your heart, don't be afraid to love, open your eyes, look at the beauty in
front of your eyes. Enjoy every step you take because that is what defines the
journey you will take throughout the upcoming years.

Purpose vs. Passion
Everyone wants to find
their purpose in life. What are we here for? Are we headed in the right
direction? We constantly look for answers when we don't necessarily ask
questions on our everyday actions. Think deeply, what would you do all the time
and never get tired of? Our purpose is what we came here to do and our passion
is what drives us to become better on a daily basis. I created this page as an
escape within a reality. Somewhere I can turn to when I feel lost. I recently
began my freshman year in college and it's definitely an experience I can't
take for granted even if I'm drowning in work!
"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." - Pablo Picasso
I began reflecting on
myself these past weeks. I want to learn more about who I am and who I want to
become. Curiosity is what moves ideas into projects. Being curious is creating
an opening for new experiences and opportunities. In my opinion, the world
needs a little crazier, a little more love and little more thinking outside the
box. Let's make our contribution towards leaving our footprint, don't you dare
pretend being someone you're not. Show who you dream of becoming and when you
find it don't turn back.
